Sudan Basic Education Recovery
What is the project about?
Since 2009, the World Bank has been engaged in the Sudan education sector by establishing productive relationships and serving as a source of support and technical expertise. This project seeks to provide critical direct assistance to the education sector during Sudan’s recovery transition which began with the signing of the CPA in 2005. The justification of this project stems from the major adverse economic and social impacts arising from the impending fiscal shocks in what is now the Republic of Sudan, and the instability caused by the conflict in parts of the country.
The project’s objectives are:
1) Improve the learning environment in the targeted areas
2) Increase the availability of textbooks and learning materials
3) Strengthen the monitoring and management mechanism of the education system.
