Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in Sudan
What is the Project about?
Against the context and lessons learned described above, the JP on GEWE will build on key opportunities that exist in the policy and institutional environment in Sudan and support their implementation, while also addressing key challenges and bottlenecks to rural women’s empowerment, peace and security with a view to promote social peace and social justice. The proposed interventions reflect the Government priorities as stated in the NWEP and the agricultural revitalization program. The JP on is also aligned with MDG 1, 3 and 7, with the SDG 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16, and contributes to UNDAF outcome 1,3,4,5.
1) The General Directorate of Women and Family Affairs and relevant Government institutions have the capacity to fulfill their mandate and effectively coordinate, monitor and implement the National Policy for Empowerment of Women.
2) Rural women small producers strategically use, access and control productive resources and financial services
3) Rural women participate in processes that impact on economic empowerment, peace and security.
