  • Government of Sweden and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Sudan Jan 15, 2018

    Khartoum, January 14, 2018 – Sweden and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Sudan have signed today an agreement to progress the UNFPA Country Program (2018-2021). It aims at contributing to the reduction of maternal mortality, improving sexual and reproductive health and the promotion of women’s empowerment in Sudan. The generous contribution from the Government of Sweden totals SEK 45,000,000 (approximately USD 5,300,000) over a three-year period.

    Upon the invitation of the Government of the Republic of the Sudan, the Security Council Working Group on Children and Armed Conflict visited Sudan from 26 to 29 November 2017. The delegation was led by the Chair of the Working Group, H.E. Olof Skoog Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations and was composed of the following nine Security Council Members: Egypt, France, Italy, Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, Sweden, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.

  • Master Plans for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene signed in El Fasher, North Darfur, Sudan Nov 8, 2017

    KHARTOUM, 7 November 2017: Master Plans to improve water supply, sanitation and hygiene in the state capital of El Fasher were signed today by His Excellency the Governor of North Darfur, UNICEF, UNOPs and the United Kingdom Department for International Development (UKaid). The vision is for all citizens in El Fasher to have access to a reliable supply of drinking water at an affordable price, to improve their sanitation and hygiene behaviour, and to live in a cleaner environment. This will ensure better health and wellbeing, and will help El Fasher to continue to grow and prosper as an important town in Sudan

  • WHD continuation of celebration Oct 26, 2017

    In continuation of Sudan’s celebration of the World Habitat Day, the National Fund for Housing and Reconstruction together with UN-Habitat and in collaboration with several national investment firms inaugurated on Wednesday 25 October 2017 an exhibition showcasing the contributions of different partners in Khartoum International Exhibition Site. The event was under the patronage of the Minister of Environment, Natural Resources and Physical Development and participation of the State Minister of Ministers’ Council, the State Minister of Finance, Khartoum’s State Minister of Physical Planning and the Director of the Real Estate Commercial Bank. In addition; members of Sudan’s academia, media, CSO’s, Contractors Union and several banks attended the event.

  • Sudan Marks the 72nd Anniversary of the United Nations Oct 25, 2017

    24 October 2017 | Khartoum – In observance of the United Nations Day, the Government of Sudan, represented by the State of Khartoum and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held a flag hoisting ceremony at the State of Khartoum Secretariat building along with members of the United Nations Country Team, and the United Nations Association in Sudan.
