The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator presents her credentials to the Government of Sudan

Khartoum, 13 August 2018 -- The United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the Republic of Sudan, Ms. Gwi-Yeop Son of the Republic of Korea, presented her Credentials to H.E. Ambassador Salah Elguned, Director General of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sudan. During the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Salah and Ms. Son discussed prospects for deepening the strategic partnership between the Government of Sudan the United Nations in addressing priority issues in the country.

OINT PRESS RELEASE: Khartoum, 28 June 2018 – Yesterday the United Nations Secretary-General issued his annual global report on Children and Armed Conflict, which shows the plight of children across the globe in conflict situations. Grave violations against children include recruitment and use of children, sexual violence against children, killing and maiming of children, abductions of children, attacks on schools and hospitals and denial of humanitarian access. The report will be debated by the United Nations Security Council on 9 July.
Updates on the Durable Solutions Pilots in Darfur

Durable Solutions is a process towards ending the situation of protracted displacement by internally displaced persons, returnees and their host communities. In Sudan, pilots are currently being undertaken in El Fasher and Um Dukhun in the Darfur region. These initiatives are in line with efforts of the Government of Sudan to move away from the provision of humanitarian assistance to more long term sustainable programmes.
