Agriculture development and food security have faced many challenges in developing countries, hence the adoption of modern technology in horticulture ranging from greenhouse technology, micro-irrigation to post-harvest technologies, has become necessary in improving the quality of life with better food security.

Successful examples and opportunities for developing the Horticulture sector will be presented and discussed in a three-day workshop organized in Tashkent on 5-7 September 2017. Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the South-South Knowledge Exchange and Coordination Workshop will gather representatives of the ministries of agriculture, technical cooperation agencies and centers of excellence from Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, Turkey and Uzbekistan, as well as UN agencies and international organizations. It aims to identify successful solutions that could be replicated in the Global South, as well as to present investment opportunities in the agricultural sector.

The Knowledge Exchange and Coordination Workshop is supported by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) in the framework of the partnership initiative on South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Agricultural Development and Enhanced Food Security (SSTC-ADFS).
